Join us to explore the magical world of dance. Located in a beautiful historic building in downtown Natick, Impulse Dance Center has provided a happy and age appropriate place to study dance for over 23 years. With classes offered from pre-school through Repertory level, our professional and nurturing faculty is committed to providing a technically sound dance education to both the recreational dancer and the dancer who is seeking a career in dance. We also offer classes for adults so that the universal language of dance can be enjoyed by all. Our large studio spaces have wooden floors for dance safety and are equipped with state of the art sound systems. With all the charm of a historical building, Impulse provides a warm, comfortable place to pursue the art of dance.
We at Impulse Dance Center are dedicated to providing our students with a complete, technically sound dance education. Once a dancer moves out of children's classes, we must place students in classes that are most suited to their technical ability. THIS MEANS THAT A STUDENT MIGHT NOT BE PLACED WITH THEIR FRIENDS. Dance technique classes are not a social function. As dance educators committed to providing the best for each of our students, we know it is critical to master the technique of one level before moving to the next. That is what will build strong, confident dancers, who will not lose interest in dance because they are frustrated in a class inappropriate for their ability. The Advanced and Repertory levels at Impulse are by invitation only. Among other requirements an important prerequisite for invitation into any Repertory level technique class in Jazz, Modern or Lyrical is previous and concurrent Ballet training. This is also strongly suggested for invitation into an Advanced Level Jazz, Modern or Lyrical class. Ballet is the backbone of all dance genres. If these levels are your goal, start your Ballet training as early as possible.
An overview of Levels after leaving Intro II of the children's classes is as follows:
- Level I, Level I Advanced, Level II, Beginner/Intermediate - All Elementary levels of dance
- Level III, Intermediate, Intermediate II, *Advanced Intermediate - All Intermediate Levels of Dance. *Advanced Intermediate has an attendance policy.
- Advanced Level - Selective, and entry is by invitation only. Has certain prerequisites and an attendance policy.
- Repertory Level - Very selective, and entry is by invitation only. Very specific pre-requisites are associated with invitation into this level. This level has a strict attendance policy.
All of our instructors are anxious and excited about sharing the world of dance. It is important to us at Impulse that each student has a successful dance experience. With proper class placement, dance technique and good self-esteem will flourish.
